water animation

Here is the first render of my water animation, this is with the ball weighing at 7 units, I am going to do another one with the ball at another weight to see how the water reacts to that before I fiddle with the amount the water ripples and waves.

Water

I have started working on the water, first of all I worked on the texture to try and get it to look right, then I worked on water dynamics. Below is some frames of how I progressed through the development, and I will be posting animations of the water soon.


Adding colour to leaves

I have added some more colours to the leaves on the trees to make sure the trees still look right with being able to see them from each other. I am quite happy with the way it has turned out I think it looks quite effective.

All the Trees

I have now added leaves too all of the trees, at the moment I have only used one leave texture, but I will be using other ones too in my final piece. This is what it looks like with all the trees having leaves.


Multiple tree leave test

I added leaves to some of the trees to see how it works with the air plants, you can see some of the air plants through the trees which is good.

working out the glow

I am now working out, what works for the glow, how much it should glow and the colour of the glow. As my research brought up green and blue glows, I have been working with those colours. The last one of the images below is the area I am going towards, the glow is green, and on a plant just like my research suggest, and the glow isn't too intense unlike some of the other ones.

Air Plant

So influenced by the ocean plants I did in my research in the beginning of the summer. I have modelled an air plant in this style, and placed it on a tree branch on my environment test section

Leaf test

I added leaves onto the trees and as you can see, where the leaves are on planes the grass is doing this square effect around the leaves. This is because 3d studio max is reading the planes and counting the grass behind it as not being in view so it isn't rending it. So I need to make 3d s max render what it can see which could be a problem later on when there is a lot going on or I have to think about other ways to do the grass and leaves together.

Here is some rendered images where I have added some more trees I have modelled and also added some grass to the ground. To make things clearer I have made all the trees grey.



Water added

A plane of where the water is going to be is added to the environment to help me map out where everything will go


This is only one part of the environment, I will be making other sections too, and put them all together in post production

Huts

I believe I am going to go with the square design for my tribes people. As it is more believable and goes with the type of native huts I came across in my research.

mushrooms

Whiles walking about I have stumbled upon different mushrooms growing on different thing. They are good reference for my ocean plants being air plants. Therefore I have documented them for reference images.

Research

Whiles doing research into my dissertation I found our that the shamam take a drug to make them "see spirirts" and to take the drug they have it blown up there nose though a hollow stick by another member of the tribe. This is something I should concider for my spiritual leader.

Book editing

So I have made the changes in my book that I decided upon yesterday. For two examples i have change the writing colour in the story to show playable and un playable parts I have also move the text on top of the pictures as they weren't clear to see.

Book arrival

My project proposal book arrived yesterday. I have gone through it to see what areas I think need to be changed, like I think the text in the story should be in two colours one colour to show whats playable and one colour to show what is cut sequences, and other things like making the text on the images clearer to read.

Tribes clothes

I figured with each tribe having there own culture and way with the forest theat they would all dress slightly differently, so i have done some clothes designs thinking about the things they would have at hand.

More Weapon design

I have looked more into the design of the weapons such as the shape of the bow as the tribes would be able to bed sticks if they can make huts.

Girl animated

I have skinned and boned the girl, sorted out the weight on the verts and have animated a walk cycle. I am quite happy with the way it has came out where this is the first rigged person I have done, well first rigged thing I have done.

Head on girl

Last night I modelled the head and attached it to the girl. I decided not to model the ear as this girl was purely for learning how to rig and animate.

Background work

I have been modelling another person in between my design work for me to rig up and as practice in modelling them. I haven't done the head yet but I am really happy with the improvement in the rest of the body structure, here is a time line image of my modelling, and a model of it at the moment.

Font

The font I have decided to use for the title of my game is Brin Athyn. I have chosen this font as I think the smoothness and the old cletic feel works well for a tribal game.

Cut sequence

I have gone through my cut sequence and I have narrowed down the parts that can be used for the cut sequence. The following parts are: The opening part of the story with the description about earth and the ships landing on zuimaco.

The cheif's daughter watching miners and scientists making creatures ill.

The ground tribe going through the scientists tent

When the ground tribe climb back up the trees and start to see smoke and powder on the trees leaves, then get higher to see miners digging up their sacred white mountain

When the ground tribe daughter and warrior sneak around to get to the butterfly tribe, and them seeing the tribe ill and then asking the tribe to join them in battle.

When they fly to the jicotea tribe up to the bit when we see the jicoteas travelling off in the river.

When the warriors take off to war, with the ground shaking and the tanama's flying. Then the other wild animals joining them.


Then finally the battle scene would make a good cut sequence

Yamuy Idea

Where the Yamuy is sacred I tried to make it look special in some way, to do this I extended its ears, and tried to make its face look similar  to the cat images for gods in egypt times.

Ao'n ideas

The Ao'n is a fast running animal, with powerful strong jaw. To illustrate this I have designed the Ao'n in a running position and with its prey hanging from its mouth.
